set Standard VGA start pc in safe mode <start - settings - control panel> then dbl click "Display" select the settings tab, then click "Advanced" select adapter tab & click "Change" then click "Choose location (advanced) then click "Display list" then select "Standard PCI" and click next and clicking next until your pc reboots, when you reboot your pc should detect new hardware click cancel then in explorer navigate to the CD you burnt and run then install the drivers

Hiya, and thanks for ur Answer,
but i am sorry some of the things u are saying i do not understand--i went to the control panel, and at the moment the drive is S3Inc.Trio3D/2X, i can change it 2--Standard.PCI Graphics (VGA) Microsoft (5-11-19888) or
" " " " " " " (6-8-2000) but i dont know which to use? and wen i did try 1 of them it came up with Warning-Windows detects current driver is a closer match for hardware Device then driver selected, allso says Current driver (recommended)
and i dont understan this------(wot u wrote)then in explorer navigate to the CD you burnt and run then install the drivers,
the cd bit??
hope u can understand wot i have put, thanks again for any help,
Sunrise

If you are using a Graphics Card then pull it out and insert again. Coz sometimes loose graphics card can cause this error.

Yeah, go ahead and let Windows install the current drivers over themselves. It's possible that the power loss gave Windows a brain fart and installing the driver over itself might set things straight. You'll probably have to re-adjust the screen size and color depth settings after a reboot.

right i think i understand, set your display to 800 X 600, and at the highest colour depth you can (probably 256 colours) then reboot & you should be able to set the resolution & colour depth of your choice (either 16 or 32 bit)

:D Aww! thanks everyone for all ur help,
Big B, did wot u said, got a new driver, that didnt work so put back the 1 it was useing, and after the reboot, yipppeeeee! it worked, so its back to normal now, LOL it must have been (Windows a brain fart) like u said,
thanks so much for all ur time,
