i just went to circuitcity and bought 2 packs of ram. 1 was labeled on the shelf for pc2100/2700 and the other was for pc3200 (ddr400). when i got home i noticed that they are both the same ddr400.i am a little confused. can you use pc3200 in a 2100 slot? can i use 2700 in both a 3200 and a 2100 slot? can 3200 be used in all of them?

    thanks

Yes, RAM speeds can be mixed - although this is generally not considered to be 'good practice'. However, as I understand it, the faster RAM will clock down to the speed of the slower RAM - so essentially, there's no point in mixing + the faster RAM stick/s will probably cost more to buy.

If you can't avoid mixing RAM speeds for whatever reason - put the slower stick in the first slot (nearest the processor) to try to avoid any potential operational issues. I don't know if there's any relevance in doing this , but it's just what I have heard.
