Hey guys, I just recieved a GeForce 8400gs 512mb card for my birthday, which is awesome seeing as I needed a new video card. However, I am looking at the requirements which state: "PCI Express or PCI Express 2.0-compliant motherboard with one x16 graphics slot". Now the rest of the requirements are not an issue, but I have some questions regarding this one.

I ran PC Wizard 2010 to figure out what was on my board, and it says I have 3 bus PCI Express slots, and they are all version 1.0, the actual stats on all of them:

    Device : nForce 430 (MCP61) PCIe Bridge
    Version : 1.0
    Port : 0
    Physical Slot : #0
    Slot Populated : No
    Link Width : x16 (max. x16)
    Link Speed : 2.5GB/s

Now I have read and found that often 2.0 cards will work in 1.0 slots, just not as effective as they should, but sometimes not at all. Is there anyway to know if this card will work in my computer before trying? I dont wanna open the card and try without knowing for fear of not being able to return it if it doesnt work.

2.0 and 1.0 should be compatible. But the best way to know would be to google for the video card and motherboard pair - see if other people have tried this before.
