i recently got a larger hard drive 40gb and wiped the old drive so i could use it in another system that i am going to build(one day) and when i got it all installed and went to find my original registered xp version i could not find it, DOH!!! the non-genuine version is really pissing me off and won't let me install sp1 or 2, i called microsoft to see if i could get a hold of my genuine product key to convert this copy to genuine but was told that i had to buy a replacement disk. Is there any way to fix this apart from doing this or buying another copy?

There are fixes for the "non Genuine" windows restrictions. Just do a google.

Find your original disk or purchase another one. Those are your only methods that we're willing to discuss here. Thread closed.
