I just built a new system, it has about 3-4 hours of total run time. I was running great last night. I put the computer into hibernation overnight. Went to turn it on this morning and it booted up all the way to windows then the whole system turned off. I tried to power it on, with no luck, no lights no fans. So i pulled the power cord and held the power button to clear the capacitors, and then after doing this tried to power it back up and the LEDs and fans get power for about a second. I cant figure out why, it was running great last night...now it does not even get to POST Hardware MoBo- MSI 880GM-E43 AM3 AMD 880G -Open Box discount from new egg RAM- WINTEC AMPX 4GB (2 x 2GB) -Open Box discount from new egg CPU- AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz PSU- CORSAIR Builder Series CMPSU-600CX 600W GPU- PCIe ATI HD 4650(Power Color) x2 HDDs SATA x2 DVD drives IDE One thing i haven't tried is pulling the CMOS battery, ill have to try that when i get home... please let me know if you have better ideas. I didn't have time to check out much more on the system, please let me know of any ideas you think would help, thanks.
I think you have a faulty PSU. I just had to replace a PSU for a relative and it was doing the exact same thing you describe. A few other things you can test: 1. Pull CMOS battery 2. Try a different PSU cable to see if you have a short in your cable 3. Use a PSU from an old system or friend to see if you can start it up, if so you need to replace the PSU.
I figured out it was the MoBo, the PSU works on my spare MoBos and i get the same results with a different PSU on the faulty MoBo. Lol of course the happens on the day that i test for my A+ certification. Thanks much for the help. Now i just need to request an RMA from Newegg.
