please help me choose the right power unit for my A8n sli deluxe

    hi all i need ur advice on buying the right power unit for the a8n sli deluxe the last power unit did not fit all the holes it left 4 spare holes in the socket.

    OK, below is a picture of your motherboard (i hope :)), All of the power connectors are labled 1, 2 or 3.

    Which one was it? and slightly confused at how you managed to get a power supply that doesnt fit!

    By the sounds of it you bought a regular 20 pin ATX PSU.
    What you'll need is a PSU with 24 pins, not 20 pins!

    Yes, or an adapter.
    But he has a 24 pin Motherboard so it would be better to just buy a native 24 pin PSU

    That's not the best idea. Those extra 4 pins help to power the PCIe slots as well as spread out the juice among the wires, equaling less heat---and that's a good thing. The other bad thing about adapters is that the additional length and connections between the power supply and the adapter add resistance to the power flow, which cuts down the juice going through the system. It's not a huge amount, but it is still present, and not a positive thing.
