i have had to reset my bios trough my son passwording it and then for getting what it was :swear: i have managed to get my memory working again with settings 3-4-4-10 and voltage 2.8V. my big problem is that i have no idea what my cpu readings should be (I am a compleat idiot when it comes to bios) could any of you nice people out there help? i have posted every where but no one has replied this is a pre-built
CPU Readings? +Do you mean FSB and multiplyer? ++Is the computer in your signiture the one in question? +++ Not to anyone else, you can recover Bios passwords with 'hacktools' asks around before you jumper the cmos!!! Is your pc starting up? if so your probobly just as well leaving it as it is.
Yes to questions 1 and 2. my pc is also starting up but when i run the "SANDRA" programme it will not register that it has HTT capabilities and so does that mean that i am not getting the best out of it?
I cant help you with the HTT, sowi! Your FSB and multiplyer r a diffrent matter. Clockspeed = FSB*[CPU Multiplyer] So what is your clockspeed? (Ghz) ps. It is NOT 4Ghz!!! thats the performance index that AMD use! (Reason why below) Intell chips have high clockspeeds than AMD chips, but do less work per cycle. AMD decided to focus more on the amount of work done per cycle than the number of cycles done! Intel (being the scum of the earth) Are deciving the vast population by creating chips with high clockspeeds. beacuse of this they where losing out on sales beacuse the majority population dont understand, they belive that more cycles = more power (which is only half true) Example: My old AMD Athlon 2200 had a CLOCKSPEED of 1803 Mhz, but it equaled the power of an Pentium (argh.... scum) 2200 Mhz
This post is WRONG (ignore the crap in red, read the note @ the bottom) So, youve 'lost' 11MHz.... where did you obtain the 2.411 figure from? @ a guess u bench marked your system.... 2.4 GHz clock speed = 200 Mhz FSB and a 12X multiplyer... if you REALLY want you can get the 11MHz back... but you would have to use a FSB value of 201 Mhz (you need a motherboard that supports overclocking or software tools) The above info i onli partial i will complete it wen i get bak @ 11:30 tonite... I have to run!!! sowi! The post below sez im wrong!!! i should have realised that before i posted it, but me being me.... (you get the idear) I didnt edit out the flaws in this post cos it would make the guy below me look like a fool!!!
No it's running at 2411MHz, 11MHz above the rated speed, due to minute fluctuations in the FSB. Intel cancelled the 4GHz P4 anyway.
ok, The HTT... I downloaded and ran the "sandra" utility that you mention. It also stated (when i ran the CPU & BIOS info wizard) that i did not have HTT capabilitys, i dont know why it says this.... I quite obviously DO have HTT technology as it is printed on the :swear: box my procesor came in (PIB, AMD Athlon 64 3200+) Perhaps, the HTT method on AMD chips is diffrent, but that would not make any sence as AMD have access to any x86 (the instruction set standard CPU's use) related information that Intell have (Although intell do ther best to make it unusable, read the 48 page legal doc that AMD have filed against Intell) So, AMD developing there own would be rather pointless... Help me out on this one anyone? The complaint http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/DownloadableAssets/AMD-Intel_Full_Complaint.pdf
My concern is that before i messed with the bios "SANDRA" said that it did have it, that is why i am confused.
hmm... Check your motherboard manual & can u supply a more 'accurate' motherboard model than the one in your signiture? i would likt to have a read of you manual to!!! (hopefully there's a online version ) What is your computer maily used for? p.s. did you set a bios password? (to keep your son from changing anthing, If you only set a 'full rights' password on the BIOS your son can still view the settings but he will have to ask i he wants to change anything! )
I checked the motherboard manual but it has hardly anything on the BIOS. My board is: DFI LAN-PARTY NF4 UT D PCI EXPRESS. There is on on line manual at DFI's site. And no it was my lovable, but idiot son who set the password i have learn't from that mistake PC is used for office work when the wife is about and DOOM3 and such like when she isn't Thanks for trying to help
