Dear Users, I have a Creative 5.1 speaker systen (Creative Inspire)...running on windows xp sp2 but with out sound card .... My prob is tht all speakers are working but there is no BASS effect ... i know tht w/o a sound card da quality depriciates but is it tht u wont get BASS at all ???
Hi Thedreaded I've got a creative inspire set too, without a soundcard but using on-board audio I do have bass, Did you check all the cables are set properly, i.e my inspire set's black plug for the rear speakers actually goes into the grey port on the back of my computer, otherwise I don't have sound coming from the rear surround speakers. Could you tell me what onboard sound chipset you've got? Some audio chipset manufactures like Realtek provide software which include features like auto-connector detection and speaker test functions which you might need to try. Good luck, Marcus
Hey Marcus ...Thanks a ton!...but plz if u dont mind .. i need a little bit more help (im well versed with other parts of da computer but not a 5.1 channel sound sys coz this isnt my own sys )..plz help me out with patience ... I have a ALC860 (realtek driver ) onboard...the arrangement of wires rite now is ... Blue (Motherboard)---Black (From speakers) Green(Mobo) --- Green (frm speakers) Purple(Mobo) --- Yellow(frm speakers) i have tried out da auto-connector thing...but its a lot confusing ...
I'm also using AC'97 chipset, there's a speaker test function you should use before going on. Connect all the wires to the ports of their corresponding color first. Then select the Speaker Test function and select 6-channel from the dropdown box and click the auto-test button, a small visual display will show you which speaker a signal is sent to and if you've installed it correctly, sound should come from the speaker you see light up on screen, use this feature to set up each channel correctly I'll get back to you as soon as I have the time. Greetings, Marcus
So I assume that u've got inbuilt 5.1 mobo sound.... There is nothing like that u wont get bass effects if u dont have a Sound card. Sound Card's are mainly for better quality of sound, which means that u can hear each type of voice more clearly through ur speakers. Check and make sure that all the cables are inserted properly.... mainly sub woofer's wire. Second thing I would like to know about is which program/software u are using to play your audio files?
