    Hi,

I have a bit of a problem with my wireless router. It blocks me from sending and receiving files on MSN Messenger. Nor does it allow webcam activities, voice conversations etc., and I can't use the new Windows Live Messenger. What happens is, if I try to do some of the things mentioned, the router automatically disconnects me. To solve this, I have to turn off both the modem and the wireless router, wait for two minutes, and then turn it back on. I also have to renew my IP-adress.

In addition to this, I also seem to have a built-in NAT firewall, which causes my torrents to slow down. I get this yellow lamp in the torrent download applications, which means that the NAT is blocking something, which again causes the download to go real slow, like 3-4kB/s, even though I'm the only computer on a 3 Mbit connection.

So tell me, if this first problem is solved by port forwarding, like everyone tells me, how come the problem continues after I've opened the ports that the help function in MSN Messenger says I need to open?

I haven't tried or done anything to solve the NAT-problem, so please give me some suggestions.

    Thank You,
    I. P. Freely

No, it's actually a 3com. First the line go into the splitter, and then into a modem (TopCom Xplorer). After that I have put up a 3com Wireless Cable/DSL Gateway, which sends the signals to my built in wireless network adapter.

I have tried to open those ports, but isn't there a way to disable the whole thing? I don't want a firewall, regardless of whether or not it's a NAT :)
