We suffered a power-cut on Tuesday evening and I have since discovered that not one of the USB devices plugged into my PC are now accessible. I have looked in device manager and all USB controllers listed are deemed to be working properly, but this is not the case. I had some problems booting my PC following the power-cut and it seems something quite serious has occurred. My system is an Evesham dual core running Vista. Any help you could provide would be gratefully received. UPS recommendations also welcome! Thorncroft
Are you using a surge protector ?Unplug from the back of the computer, then hit the power button to discharge any left power.. Wait a little bit and the plug back in and boot. You might have to take out the battery..
Thanks for the suggestion. I tried this and subsequently replaced the existing surge protector with a new (unused) unit bought for my wife's system. Unfortunately, the problem persists. I'm loathe to fork out on a new pc as I'm quite happy with the performance of my existing setup; but it's looking a likely outcome. Thanks again.
