Power interuption during OS update

I experienced power outage during XP OS Update.
Not able to get up and running.
Any suggestions?

Power outage to the entire house or just your PC? Did you smell any smoke?

Are you able to boot to safe mode so you can try a system restore? (hit f8 when it boots?) I think windows makes a new restore point before it does major updates.

power surges are the worst things to happen to a computer, I fixed three of them last week.. We will need a little more info, What does it do at start up ? Or is it just dead ?
Number 1 thing that goes out is the power supply gets fried..
