PowerColor 9800 Pro on C&C Zero hours

Hi! I am a fan of C&C Zero hours.
There is something I have to say about Geforce card from Nvidia.
I am very sorry to tell those Geforce lovers, that Radeon are better, at least on this game.
In fact, I was with Nvidia since TNT2.
Until my new PowerColor Radeon 9800 Pro, I have tried a series of Geforce 2, 3, 4, and FX.
Compared with Radeon, Geforce cards (not sure about the newest 6800s), trade graphic details for frames per second. I see this “low life” strategy, cheating.

Also, ATI releases its graphic driver more often than nvidia, letting Radeon users enjoy the improvement more frequently!

If you have not yet tried a Radeon, find a friend who owns a 9800/9600 pro, and see how pretty the graphic details compared to Geforce. At FSAA 4X to 8X, My powercolor runs like a dream, smokes both geforce 5900 and 4600.

Yeah!
Bash nvidia, rule for Radeon!

Well, with that generation of cards, you're certainly right: ATI smoked Nvidia hands-down. However, the NV40 chipset cards which are coming out run neck-and-neck with ATI's next-gen Video offerings. And, in some benchmarks (specially OpenGL), Nvidia actually comes out on top. I think this is good news for all of us gamers, whether ATI or Nvidia fans. It means the competition is still very stiff, and both companies will be forced to keep up a competative edge and improve their products rapidly.

ATi has had great hardware for awhile now---since at least the original Radeon line-up. However, they had just incredibly awful drivers that weren't (IMO) worth the hassle. A while after the Radeon 8500 was out, ATi started getting their act together, and nVidia wasn't really expecting that. After being slapped silly with the whole DX9 fiasco, they've learned their lesson. NV40 supposedly incorporated technology from the long defunct 3dfx, but they're not going to turn out like their former competition.

Let's not forget that the FX line of cards also beat ATI in benchmarks at the beginning (because of cheats) so we shouldn't take those numbers too seriously, until we can hear from real life experiences from "real" users.

Also, another area where ATI was on top is image quality, and there's no question about that.

As for the drivers, personnally I did not have any problems with them but I should also say that I don't play many games so I can't comment on that. However, many people had many problems in many games so I'd have to agree with BigB.

With that said, I don't hate nvidia and I hope they come back very strong with their new line of cards because I don't think any of us wants a monopoly, which would drive prices up.

But as a Canadian, I certainly hope ATI stays on top because Canada needs successfull companies, and right now, ATI is. I just hope that nvidia closes the gap (a little :p )

P.S. I probably won't have the chance to test those new babies though since I already have a 9800. I'll probably skip this generation or buy a mid-range card (of the new gen) in the event that I build a second system.
