I am hoping someone will be able to shed some light on the reason why my wife is unable to access her favourite forum because she is driving me mad:eek:

The PC will open every other programme except this one. We have checked that the site isn't down - in fact she did get in for about 10 mins last night - but we get the message "page unavailable" and "cannot find server" even though as I say we can get on any other site.

We do have connection problems frome time to time and apparently this is not a server problem but "apparently" due to the fact that we are "at the end of the line" as far as the telephone network is concerned.

Anybody able to suggest a solution please?

Sounds like the particular forums you're trying to access may be experiencing some down time. Keep in mind that every 'site' you connect to on the Internet is fundamentally just a computer somewhere. Like your home computers they can suffer from hardware failure, software glitches, power outages, network outages, administrator error, etc. If you like, you can post a URL to the forum you're trying to access and we can confirm its status to help you troubleshoot.

    All the best,
    -AT

Thanks for that, but we have checked that the site is up and running, in fact I can access it from my PC at work. We have three computers at home and none of them is able to access this site.

You are right they do experience the same poblems and very rarely the site is down. This is normally for a very short time and when closed for problems or maintenance you can at least get as far as seeing a message saying it is down.

Strange isn't it? I'm wondering if it's a browser problem, deleting cookies isn't always the answer because I understand these sites need them to work ?

    Thanks again anyway

There are a lot of variables at play, but just for laughs have you tried a different web browser?
