Problem with Radeon 2900Xt clock speeds

Big Geek
Ive installed a Sapphire Ati Radeon HD 2900xt in my new systems and it running great. However ive noticed something odd in the catalyst control centre.
On the Ati Overdrive page the core is running at 507mhz when its supposed to be 745mhz. The same applies for the memory running at 514mhz instead of the requested 828mhz.
I think I might now why the speeds are lower tho. When I first installed the card the way I read the instructions was that I should use an 8-pin pcie power connector if I had one. So I plugged the 8 pin connector in but not an additional 6 pin connector into the cards other power connector. Subsquently after starting windows I had a message saying that the card may not be compatible with my power supply and so the clock speeds on the card had been reduced.
I searched the web and discovered you actually need to plug in two power connectors! so i did this and the warning messages stopped appearing and the card is still running fine.
The clockspeeds are still lower than they should be tho and I wondering how I migh go about putting that right? that said bioshock is running amazingly in DX10 mode and all maxed settings.

Any help and info would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
