found the prob YT is now down, so, something must have being wrong before

hope it not down for long

    Edit: failing servers: dns1.sjl.youtube.com & dns2.sjl.youtube.com

Edit: now i've learned that YT has moved to a new domain "youtubeonline.com" , so, i'll just wait until they sort it

Holy crap, DNS hijacking! YouTube.com is still YouTube.com, Google would be nuts to change it. However, a quick whois of youtubeonline.com reveals the following:

...sounds legitimate, no? Which DNS server(s) are you using in your router man? It sounds like they're poisoned.

In future, please don't use SW and TY without telling us what they mean. They're not standard abbreviations, so there's no way to be sure.

    Surprise surprise, in Cairo .

    Youtube.com works fine for me.

Whoops, I missed that line the first time. OpenDNS can be a bit sketchy, and it's very non-standard in the way it handles DNS. I actually had a drawn-out debate about it with OpenDNS' CEO a while back: RoadRunner Intercepting Domain Typos ...As I told him, pure DNS is the way to go. I don't want anybody tampering with my forward lookups! The other big downside you've already experienced: OpenDNS is a big target for local DNS poisoning attacks.

ok, no probs, sorry[ot]Addis slaps the back of donkeys legs, & donkey likes it, but he instantly realizes he's in trouble so he stops smiling[/ot]
so, is using OpenDNS a good idea, or can you recommend a better free DNS ?

BTW:  you seem to be saying their not good here

BTW: after a lot of p1ssing about everything seems fine with youtube now, i'm unsure if tinkering fixed it or just time, but i suspect it was time as all i really did basically was reinstall my browser, obviously other stuff to but nothing i think would cause that, except my / partition was full
