    Get this.
Bought a gigabyte ga-7n400 L1 mobo cos my old mobo fell to pieces, on installing it I realised that the cpu requires a 12v psu connection that my old psu didn't have, so I bought a shiny new 500w psu with the 12v connector.
The psu works fine with my old board, the new board at least atempts to boot with my old psu, put them both together and I get a click.

The power light on the board comes on the the cpu fan nudges slightly but other than that nothing happens, not even fan spin up from the psu.

I have no clue whats going on any ideas?

ok it seems that no one wants to touch this one so i'll rephrase does anyone have a ga-7n400 l1 that works fine with a decent sized PSU, tell me the make and model of the psu and i'll put the problem in that massive file labelled non compatible.

well, what was your old psu's specs??, your new psu is not very good, although i think that maybe it will do just for your system, but Watts aint everything, a decent 450w enermax psu would do better than your sumvision 500w psu. Its all about the rails, the 12V rails, your PSU only has one +12v rail, and thats 24A, a decent psu have 28+ A.

check that everything is firmly in, connect the 4pin 12v connector, and the other main connector, i think its the 24pin 12V connector too, 20 or 24 anyway.

It's not about wattage, I bought a new board that needed a 12v vcore supply and my old psu didn't have one so being on a buget I bought a cheap one that I could continue using when i upgrade.
I have no idea why it just doesn't work it doesn't even attempt to power up like the board did with my old one.
Any way i'm resolved to sell it on to some unsuspecting soul on ebay and aquire me another one that actually does work with my board.
I don't want it to conquer the world I just want it to work.

well get a power supply from Hiper, enermax or antec or any other top brand make, i am sure other people will be able to reccomend some more, dont buy a cheap crappy psu, get a decent one that will last you!

Well i'm still here... Eventually bought a thermaltake tr2-430 watt just plugged it in and the same thing has happened, the light on the board comes on when i press the power button but nothing else happens.

Obviously it's the board would the lithium battery have anything to do with it?
is there a sure fire way to find out if the board has blown?
