I've recently bought new components for my computer but i've had serious performance isseus regarding any game that runs on DX9 every time after a while when running such a game the screen will go black and after a minute it resets itself but when runnig older games it's fine also during the time that it works there is a lot of rapid screen flickering. I'm using the following drivers for my X1900XT:7-4_xp_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_44981.
what resets, presumably you mean you system resets, if so, you are probably having a heat / cooling issue
Well i've put in a Thermaltake Watertide for my graphics card so that it would'nt and the temperature does'nt get higher then 56 degrees Celcius on full load so i don't see how it could have. I've never had this problem on my old pc wich used the same card.
Have you also checked the temperature of the CPU? Also, is there any dust inside the CPU cooler? Can you look inside the Event Viewer and look for any errors?
The CPU seems to be at a normal temperature. The case is open right now but there's no dust (it's just a week old) I'm using speed fan to see the temperatures there almost the same as corecenter indicates but the CPU goes up to about 63 on full load.
uhhm that seems fine. Did you ever overclock your CPU or graphics card? Is the graphics card connected to the power supply? And also, what new components did you install? edit: I just see that your power supply is an Enermax from the Liberty series. These models have a high failure rate. Can you test a different power supply?
At one time i got a message from Catalist Control Center that the clockspeed was lowered due to overheating , I was still using the stock cooler at that time. That was the only time i overclocked the GPU. But the rest of the components are at normal settings. The components in the signature are new exept the GPU and the PSU
Unfortunatly i dont have an other PSU wich has a powercable for my GPU But the PSU always ran stable on my old system, wich was pretty much the same
Did these problems started after you replaced the GPU cooler with a new one? If you put the stock cooler back, do the games work then? When you put the new cooler on the GPU, did you put new thermal grease on it?
They where before i installed the new cooler the exact same problem. only then it was really overheating around 85 but it is'nt the case now. On my old 939 system everthing ran perfect and there was much more strain on the psu then there is now because there where much more componts connected then on this one Old System I used an MSI K8 ATI RD-482 AMD Athlon 3500+ 2 GB Kingston value Ram
Could you look in the event viewer and look for any errors listed there? You can get there on this way: Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer (dutch version of windows: Configuratiescherm > Systeembeheer > Logboeken)
maybe i should reasemble my old system and see if the problems occur there as well , What do you think?
Well i've reasembled the 939 system with the enermax PSU and the X1900XT GPU and it runs perfect no crashes what so ever, so that just leaves 2 things. The 1 Gb Buffalo Ram or the mainboard
There were no errors in memory test but maybe the ram is'nt compatible somehow, it's the cheapest so maybe that's the reason, my friend has got a spare ocz gold so i'll see what happens when i use that.
