Im gettin a new case and i thought that id upgarde my rather suspect psu at the same time. Ill be using this case for a long while so i want to get a psu that is good enough to be viable when i do a full sys upgrade. So the question is, what psu watage and brand would be good enough for high end graphics but also is not to pricy cuz hey, who has enough cash for what they want all the time (would just go out and buy the very best if i had a mountain of gold and dimonds) Any sugestions would be well apreciated.
First you should read up on This thread and then you should go to your local online retailer and look for a cheap deal based around what you read.
I've only seen them on Newegg, but if you could find the FSP (Fortron) AX450-PN, that'd be a good bet. For $50 USD, it's got very good amperages. However, you'll likely find Antec and Enermax the easiest big boys to find. Any Antec TruePower 500 or 550 unit is a good bet along with an Enermax 475W and up. You might also find that Tagan power supplies are available to you, and their 480W unit is also a good choice, not to mention pretty reasonable. Avoid Q-Technology (Q-Tec) and Ultra brand power supplies. Every time someone's mentioned they have a Q-Tec power supply, it's at least part of their problems. Ultra power supplies are flashy, but can't hold up under load. In fact, they've blown up in two reviews that stressed them.
