    Hi.

Im building a new system, and I need an idea of what sort of psu i'll need to run stabley without overclocking.

My system is AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+
    DFI Lanparty UT NF4 SLI-DR Expert SKT939
    XFX Geforce 7950GT 512mb PCB

    Hi Kryptoxian,

Here's a good website to where you can calculate the amount of watts your PSU will at least require.

I'd recommend a 500W minimum, but you might want to go for a heavier type if you'll ever concider upgrading.

DFI states the minimum requirements for a PSU paired with their motherboard must include the following:

    -480W or higher
    -24-pin ATX connector
-25A (30A for SLI) on the 12V rail or combination of 12V rails

Some that will do the job:

    -Enermax EG 565P-VE (535W)
    -Antec TruePower TPII-550 (550W)
    -OCZ Powerstream 520
    -OCZ GameXtreme 600/700
    -FSP AX-500 BlueStorm
    -Hiper Type-R 580
    -Tagan TG-480-U22

Those will run between $80-120 (US) online in most places.

You can probably get by with less, but, again, the DFI boards do tend to work a lot better when you invest in a good PSU and RAM. Even if it weren't DFI, skimping on the power supply is a bad idea. In any case, a 500-600W from a quality company (like those who've been mentioned) will be plenty, not to mention provide some headroom.

Hey, thanks a lot for the help. I think I'll go for the Hiper Type-R, just for the little extra buffer on top of the minimum requirements. Thanks again.
