B, tell me about Q-Tec? Do they have a habit of blowing to pieces? The reason I ask is that I see them all over eBay. They go for about £15 brand new and are slated as 500W!
Yeah, Q-tec is one of the ones that will likely go when stressed...and from what I've heard, will blow up real good. The type that takes other parts with it. There's a reason Q-tec is so cheap: they're crap. A lot of people who've posted here with Q-tec power supplies have had trouble with stability. Definitely a brand to avoid like the plague.
I bought a 500W Q-Tec PSU last year to run quite a low spec system (Athlon2800XP, GeForce6800, 1 optical drive, 1 HDD) and it wouldn't even POST. I replaced it with an old 350W PSU I had laying around and it was fine. I think Q-Tec quote 500W when its really 2 x 250W on different rails (as I understood it). Steer clear!
Yeah they don't like going quietly. They go out kicking and screaming and cluthing at various things, kind of like a toddler thwrowing a tantrum PSU: Oh I feel as if I'm going to die... CPU: HAHA! That'll teach you for being a Q-Tec. PSU: Screw this, you're going with me! CPU: NOOOO! *power surge* *pop* *smoke* RAM: Glad I kept quiet... GPU: Tru dat bro!
Haha! Drugs, what drugs?! *shifty eyes* *paranoid twitch* I just figured I'd make a little more entertaining for you
Huh, I have a Jeantech PSU. I only bought it because I could make a scene and get my money back in the shop.
