Hey, has anyone used or familiar with QDI motherboards? I've just purchased a used Socket 370 motherboard made by QDI a few years ago.

    [ot]Shame on you Mega!
They use VIA chips don't they? :p

I am looking for a socket 370 board bargain.... any ideas?

Oh and by the way, I do not mind VIA chips.... ;)

A little late getting in here, but I've heard of QDI before, and seen a few reviews (mostly at Tom's Hardware---before I found better reading material). I don't remember anything spectacular in positive or negative senses...they seemed to be something that just dropped in and went with. I'm not sure what happened to the company, but I haven't seen the name QDI pop up in quite awhile.

The latest news on their website is from 2004 and I am pretty sure the brand name QDI no longer exists. They were also known as Legend QDI or simply Legend. I think they were either bought by, or simply renamed to Leveno.

The socket 370 board i've bought is very enthusiast. It's got special overclocking features in the BIOS. I'm going to slam my Pentium 3 Coppermine from 1000/100 (10.0/100) to 1330/133 (10.0/133). :)

LOL. Sounds like a nightmare I had recently

Well it's funny you should mention you are looking for a motherboard with a VIA chipset. Assuming this QDI motherboard I've bought is OK, I will have an Elitegroup Skt 370 board, 384MB of RAM (3x128) and a Pentium 3 850MHz up for sale in the next few days.

    Thanks for letting me know.
I am not really looking to spend any money at all but would be happy to hear from you as long as the board can support processors higher than 1Ghz.
If it is I would consider spending....

    Good luck!

You would need to buy a Pentium 3 Tualatin board if you want a processor above 1GHz. The Coppermine class of Pentium 3 were discontinued after they hit the 1GHz mark. The Elitegroup board only supports Coppermine @ 100MHz FSB. But I've got it overclocked with a 1GHz CPU to about 112MHz FSB. That gives me a processor frequency of 1.12GHz :) It runs very stable at this speed. Good old VIA chipsets, hey? ;)
