Hi all, I have a dell e1505 2gb ram and it suddenly became extremely slow, tried everything then I went and formatted the whole thing. It's still very slow. important points: - I downloaded hiren's boot cd and I run many cpu and memory test. Result: there is no problem!!! - I've noticed that the pc is especially slow when it has something to do with anything that would appear on the screen. Things appear on the screen very slowly. - I tried to copy paste some files that I want to save and the weird thing is that the transfer was as fast as it was before the problem! Please help me. Can I still save my laptop? I'm a student and the idea of buying a new one makes my life miserable. Thank you all.
Welcome to HWF Have you tried using the Dell System Recovery? If you go to the tab 'Processes' in Task Manager, you can see the CPU usage of each application. Which applications are consuming all the CPU resources?
The strange thing is that there isn't a specific process using most of the cpu. When I open the task manager, I find the task manager itself taking about 50% and the rest goes to any active process such as firefox or if there is nothing then it is the idle system process. Cpu is Always 90% to 100%
When you turn on your computer, you should see a message stating "Press XX for Setup". Hold down that button when turning on your computer. You should now see a BIOS Setup screen with a blue background. Use that Setup screen to restore the system to its defaults. I think that the clock settings of your CPU are messed up, so resetting the BIOS settings would be a great place to start
I updated the BIOS but nothing has changed. I discovered that my fan is running at half the speed that it supposed to have. I'm gonna change the fan, however, I'm not sure that would solve the problem. Is it possible that one of my main parts got damaged because of the heat?
