planing on building my first coputer and iv' got all the nessicary knowledge except for one thing, some progessor info. now i was planning on getting a ASUS P4P800 delux (wee.) now my questions are- its for the 865PE chipsets, and i cant find exactly wich chip that is. all i can find chips listed by are speeds but not models, so wich ship is that exactley? my other question is does it support processors OTHER than the 865pe?
lol ok umm i dont know much bout P4 but i am pretty sure that a great deal of them will be supported by the mobo but why are you getting a Pentium??? take some advice and get a AMD lol
The i865PE is the chipset. It supports the Pentium 4 CPU. While I've been using AMD for awhile now, I've not been impressed with the supposedly premier nForce 2 chipset. I like Intel as the CPU heatsink retention doesn't require a screw driver in most cases (some exotic ones might). You don't get that with AMD...at least not unless you fork out for the Athlon 64.
