I have an old Westinghouse monitor that has seemed to lost it's internal light. I see a picture when I plug it in, but it is very dimmed to the point where I have to concentrate very hard to make out any words or pictures. I have opened it up all the way to the chips on the inside and was wondering if anybody here knew what I would need to replace to get that lighting back. Would it be as simple as replacing the VGA? I'm new here, and new to hardware, but very interested, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Buy a new LCD monitor, or you can get a 17" or 19 " on craigslist for under 40.00 bucks..

Is this an LCD flat screen or one of those with the big back on it ?

probably has dead pixels, everytime you touch the screen, you can burn out a pixel and over the years they just go bad ... how old is it ? that brand is know for going out.
