if i overclock my 4400+ to 2.4ghz, (which i can using one of the programs that the asus motherboard gaveme on a cd, ) does it perform exaclty the same as a non overclocked 4800+, if it does, why does the 4800+ cost so much more?

Because a 4800 is guarunteed to run at that clock speed, be stable and run pretty cool with a stock cooler. You're taking a chance by overclocking, it might not work.

It'll probably overclock well, but its never fully guarunteed to run stable. If you need to increase core voltage, it can lower CPU lifespan.

but then i the 4800+ is just a higher clocked 4400+ then your saying itll have a lower life span, is that right?

the 4800+ is the 4400+ with a higher multiplier, thus a higher clockspeed. The CPU is garunteed to run without any problems at that speed while your 4400+ is garunteed to run at 4400+ speeds but may run at 4800+ speeds with no problem. Though increasing CPU voltages can dramatically reduce lifespan as well as create heat issues.
