quiet fan

    Hello all,

    I am looking for a quiet fan, as the one I have is really really loud. I have included system specs and pics to help. Can anyone provide me with a suggestion?

    oops, the large fan in the back isn't plugged in actually.

    Its the lil small one that sounds like a hair dryer.

    Thats your processor fan and heat sink, I would just order a new heat sink an fan..

    You aren't going to get too much of a selection for a socket 604. The fans are smaller (60 - 70mm) so either way they are going to be kinda loud. This is the best I could find for you in under 5 mins though:

    It's got a copper heatsink and a 2 ball bearing 60mm fan..

    Why are there so few choices? I see tower pcs all the time that are quiet, I wonder if its just the xeon?

    That would definately work if you can fit it in your case. Just remember that the thing is huge... and aluminum.. The 120mm fan would be nice and quiet. The reason why your choices will be limited is because socket 604 isnt exactly a widely used socket. Most consumers use 775 or AM2 now a days so that is what is easiest to get.
