    I wonder what the radiation is for an average CRT vs. an average flat panel lcd
    anyone know or have an general idea?

    CRTs emit VLF and ELF (Very Low Frequency and Extra Low Frequency) electromagnetic radiation (caused by the scanning electron beam in the CRT tube). I don't think LCD's emit any radiation. Could be wrong. As for the amount that CRT's give off, I'll have to check up on that.

    It depends on what you're talking about. Light is a form of radiation, as is heat, so most things give off radiation of some kind (including you!). LCDs do give off some radiation, but CRTs give off much more. However, the amount of radiation which a common CRT puts out pales in comparison to your average fluorescent light fixture. In other words, monitor radiation is minor enough to be moot. And let's not even talk about microwave ovens... :p

    CRTs give off less UV radiation than a neon light if i remember correctly. So pretty safe.
