On RAM I usually see a number like PC3-8500 or PC3-12800. What is this number? Does it have anything to do with performance? Thanks for any answers.
pc-8500 means your cpu can request upto 8500mb/s in single channel configuration (1 memory module) if your in dual channel configuration the cpu can request upto 17000mb/s. same goes for pc-12800. Basically higher the memory bus frequency the more data the cpu can request. but you will also have to have a high system bus frequency if your not using a core i7 setup. otherwise your system bus will be the bottleneck.
Thanks for the reply. I wonder how the mb/s is converted to Hz. Google will have the answer. Thanks again.
