Ok so i had 2 sticks of RAM in my computer a 512mb DDR400 and a 512mb DDR333. This worked fine. our family computer (which takes ddr333) needed another stick of ram so i decided to switch out the ddr333 stick in my comp with another ddr400 stick i bought off newegg.

the new stick of 512mb DDR400 Kingston valueram i bought finally came and i switched it out with the DDR333 then i set my computer back up and it did not boot! I did not get any video or any beeps! I took out the new RAM and put the original setup back in and it sitll didnt work!

I know it is the right type of RAM and i can support up to 4gb.

so i finally got it fixed by switching my two sticks of RAM to different slots (slot 2 and 4). Now it is working but in the future i plan on buying more RAM but what if this happens again.... I still dont know why it happened, Kingston tech support couldnt give me an answer.

Has anyone else had this problem?!?

I am totally puzzled with no system beep and video... but i will eventually want to get more RAM.

    Please Help!!

(btw my mobo is ASUS A8S-X and my other stick of DDR400 that i had was made by Ultra)

So are you going dual channel with sticks of ram that arent the same make/model? RAM is definately my low point if knowledge but I thought it was recommended that if you do go dual channel that it be the same make/model? BTW, what's your motherboard? I'd like to take a look at your manual.

    Edit: Nm... skim read FTL...
