    Hi,

I would like help with something, I have a Dell Studio XPS 1645 laptop its running:

Intel i7-720QM running @ 1.6GHz (Specifications can be found here
    ).

Its about 2 year old now so I decided to upgrade the RAM in my laptop to 8GB DDR3 Crosair Vengeance RAM running @ 1600MHz (Specifications can be found
    here

), however, when I check the bios it registers the 8GB ram but it says its only running at 1333MHz? I heard that it can only run as fast as the CPU can handle is that correct? Or do I need to change some settings?
    Thanks for your help!
    Regards,
    John

The speed you are mentioning is the bus speed frequency, not the CPU frequency. The Intel i-series no not have a memory controller, so it depends on the maximum memory speed of your motherboard.
