    Hey.

I currently have 1gb of value ram in my pc, probs generic crap, but anyway, its DDR400 PC3200, in the bios when i load optimized defaults, the clock speed of my ram goes down to 333, case latency to 2.5, and everything else goes slightly lower too, is this safe with my ram, if so, would i get better performance running the ram at cas 2.5, 333mhz than running it at 400-420mhz, cas 3.0?

    Stock settings are:
    CAS3
    8
    3
    3
    2
    11
    14
    4

What system is it in? It depends on your CPU really though id always opt for the higher clock frequency due to the increased bandwidth. If you are running an Athlon at 266mhz fsb then ram at 400mhz might not make any difference over ram at 333mhz.

oooohhh. Thats different then. Athlon 64 939?

You'll want it at 400mhz then. Do some system benchmarks to check but I think you'll see better performance at 400mhz.

I thought you meant it was out of an Athlon XP setup (133x2fsb) or an old P4 or something.

noo lol, its allready at 400mhz, its DDR 400, i was wondering if it would be better at DDR333 and CAS2.5 instead of DDR400 and CAS3.0

Get sandra on the case, run the cpu benchmarks and see what happens.

Yeah but if your ram is doing crappy then your cpu will too. Their a close knit team!

lol, i can easilly get my ram to work at lower settings with my cpu overclocking.

The other wierd thing is that i thought the multiplyer on my cpu is locked when it defenitly seems to not be as i have changed the multiplyer and managed to underclock my cpu to 1.8ghz and 2.0ghz.
