I have a serious (and very urgent problem): I have a Western Digital Passport 2.5" external hard drive 500GB, of which the entire drive used to be a single partition. Last night, I used Acronis Disk Director Suite to shrink this partition to leave about 10GB at the end, with the intention of using a HFS+ filesystem for Mac. The Acronis software itself works perfectly and has done so many times in the past. Issue now was it could not format a HFS+ partition. However, the OSX's Disk Utility did not recognize this unformatted space, so I put FAT32 on that last 10GB as well, which OSX did recognize. Problem: I'm not sure what went wrong here (it's my first time using Disk Utility), but somehow or another the Mac must have reformatted the whole drive because it now cannot be detected on any of my Windows machines. I have tried using GetDataBack for FAT to scan but after 5 hours it only discovers the 10GB partition. Does anyone know how to recover the rest of the contents of the hard drive? This is terribly important and I need the data in about 4 hours so any and all advise will be greatly appreciated. Regards, Nicholas. Additional information: Have also just tried scanning using GetDataBack NTFS. In both cases, an error message is shown during the initial scanning for drives: In both cases, my drive of 466GB is labeled as (HD131 with only one partition: DOS Extended 466GB. If there is a need for screenshots please let me know and I'll put them up immediately.
