s video

 Hope someone can help me. I have jusy got a computer for the first time and am quite useless with it. I would like to play dvds on it but view them on my tv as it has a larger screen and my dvd player is junk. I bought a connecting cable (s-video) with a scart adaptor only to find that my computer does not have an s-video socket! Stupid me! Is there some way of remedying this with another adaptor or do I have to buy a special graphics card thingy?

While you can buy a VGA to Compsite video...the units run around $100 from what I've seen. If all you want to do is play on the TV, there's much cheaper alternatives to that.

I don't know what PC you have, but this card should work fine, assuming you have a PCI slot available.

You will need a graphics card or video adapter that will provide S-Video out / in

You can either get a graphics card with s-video capabilities, OR a cheaper and more sensible option would be to get something called a TV Card :good:

I'm not a great expert on s-video e.t.c but the TV Card may be wrong ..

Someone else will confirm for me?

They make TV tuner cards and other products to put TV on the computer. He wants to watch his DVDs on his TV.

I would just upgrade the graphics card with one with s video output but you may already have one so check.
