I recently bought a SATA hard drive (Seagate Barracuda ST3200822AS 200Gb) to add to my existing system, but it wont recognise it. My motherboard is an ECS KT600-A, with VT8237 SATA RAID BIOS Ver. 2.21. My current hard drives, both 80gb, are set up on a PCI ATA raid controller, on raid 0. my motherboard has nothing preventing SATA (jumpers, etc) Heres what i've tried: -disconnecting my other drives and beginning from scratch, but i recieve the error message "hardware initiate failed, please check device!!!" "Bios does not be installed, press <g> to continue" -the drive sounds like its working fine -flashing a bios update, but the error "unknown flash type" appears continously, despite trying numerous flash utilities/updates and ensuring no bios protection. what else can i do???????????????
You need drivers for your hdd to be recognized. These drivers came on a floppy disk with your motherboard. If you don't have the floppy, you can get the drivers here
But it doesnt seem right that my motherboard cant even acknowledge its prescence... anyway, to do that involves installing windows clean, and ive got lots of valuable info on my Raid settup... and F6 aint working!!!
have a look on seagates site at this link http://www.seagate.com/support/disc/drivers/discwiz.html dowload the "DiscWizard Starter Edition" which will help you create a floppy to format your drive, read this : http://www.seagate.com/support/kb/disc/howto/use_dwse.html and if you cant dowload it your self maybe a friend/ whatever can for you, its a 2.4mb file and you need 2 floppies to format your drive.
