Screen goes dim for a sec?

lately my Compaq CRT computer screen sometimes goes dim for a sec, happens almost everyday I believe, but only happens about once per day even though I use it for many hours per day, I'm trying to figure the cause? monitor issue? video card issue? and any way to fix this? hopefully it will continue to work?

How old is it ?

about 6 years? but I've heard of monitors that last much longer than this.

Can you try another monitor to rule it out ?

aww I don't have another, if it gets really bad, then I guess I have to buy a new one and test it... at least it still works though

Agree, use it until it goes out..
