we powered down out SCSI tape drive last week and since then we havent been able to get a good backup. i'm seem to remember that we had to reboot the server if this ever happened as turning off the tape drive can screw the SCSI connection?

does this sound right to anyone? we are running on Win Server 2003 and using a Dell tape drive

    thanks

I have a Dell SCSI tape drive as well. Yes, when you power down the tape drive, you must shut down and restart the hardware(in this case, the server). Actually, the order of it should be to shut both down, power the SCSI device up 1st, then the server, so that the hardware sees the SCSI device...Hope this helps!
