Hi, This is my first post on this forum, unfortunately have to start with a slight problem. I have seagate 500 external hard drive which has been performing well until now. I seem to have lost all the files stored on it probably my own fault, I tried some undelete software but all I got was the following message: F:\ is not accessable The request could not be performed because of an I/O error. F is the seagate, so can anyone tell me what this means. Many thanks and best regards, Rick T.
Hi, me too have same hard drive. Do you tries doing format for this hard? You can do it with helper disc if you has him. I recommend Partition Magic programm, she's helped me always in bad situation
my old 20GB seagate with IDE interface is often having file corrupt problems, and weekly now, asks for a disk check for constisency upon startup and then during the scan says "file rescued from 12423 location etc." and if i try to open... sayy... an image, it will just say drawing failed if i read it off that hard drive, lucky i used it as a backup and not my main drive, not much of a backup anyway
Partition Magic (PM) is responsible for the loss of a lot of data around HWF, basically, it was good when it was owned by PowerQuest, but, when symantec bought PM (in about 2003) and symantec rewrite software they buy, because they think they know best, if symantec buy software that works, they should leave it alone BTW: i've heard symantec being referred to as evil a mush better product (IMO) is Acronis Disk Director Suite
