About a month ago I bought this HD at CostCo, they had an excellant sale. I backed up everything I had to it, including files from my old PC. Well, 1 month later and the HD appears to be dead, I am not sure if its the HD or something to do with the power supply. The reason I say that is because the power light no longer comes on when I plug it in, but I can feel the drive spinning. When I plug it into the USB port, nothing happens on the computer, doesn't recognize it at all. I tried to contact Seagate, but they said the best thing they can do is to replace the hard drive. I don't want it replaced, I still want to try and get the data off of it. Do you think there is a shot at this? Or should I just consider it a lost cause? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TM
Yooo wassup.. Hey dude i feel EXACTLY the same way here i have a 640GB hard drive 9western digital external) and all my photos and stuff is in there... i have exactly same problem as urs except i dont even feel the disk moving!!!! i've decided to change the drives around after i buy a new one see if that works.... o btw... try ripping open ur seagate (this will void ur warrenty) get the hard drive and put it in ur PC... and turn ur pc on... see if that works...... i hope someone knows how to fix these problems... o btw dude i do know 1 way people can get ur files back......... you will need a profressional person for this.... they will take these 3 plates of disk inside ur harddrive and those drives are EXtremely delicate as they can break VERY easily. those contain the data. so u get the same moddle HDD and u take the 3 disk out of the good HHD and put the 3 disks from ur broken one to ur new one... then shove that into ur caseing for ur external... that SHOULD do the trick... But dont take my word... i'm not a super Nerd...:chk:
