sempron,duron....confused?

    can someone please tell me whether duron compatible motherboards are also sempron compatible, cheers

    That depends on the motherboard. If it's a Socket A motherboard that supports the Barton core Athlon XP's, then it should. However, you're gonna want to check with the motherboard manufacturer, as you may need to flash to a newer BIOS. I'd say that most KT600 and nForce 2 motherboards should handle the Sempron just fine, but motherboards with older chipsets are iffy. Basically, the Sempron is the replacement for the Duron line.

    what I've noticed with my old sempron, you only need a BIOS update to have it be recognized as a sempron. Otherwise it just says athlon. Still boots though, I dont' know if this applies to all motherboards just 5 I've tested it on.
