Have just downloaded drivers for my onboard soundcard on a American Megatrends Nvidia and it wont let me install the drivers unless I have at least Service Pack One for XP Installed and I cant get that service pack if you know what I mean. Any ways round this you think...a computer aint a computer without sound.cheers.luke.

Id get both service packs on there. They are big updates.
You dont need to go to the MS website to get the service packs.

Its possible to order them off a CD, or download the "network install" version of SP2 instead and run it.

You only need to install SP2 to get SP1. Running an XP machine with unpatched holes on the net will probably end up getting 0wned within 1 hour.

Something may have been added with SP1 and up that is required. If you're unable to download such a huge file, Microsoft will send you a CD with the current Service Pack upon request.
