Shared internet connection

Hi all,

new to the forum, I have spent days trying to clean up a mess my mothers mate has made!

I currently run a D-Link DSL-G604T wireless routher/hub I connect another PC via CAT5 cable so they can have the internet, this has been working for months then as I said me mother mate came over and uninstalled some programs and installed some such as:

Norton Ghost
Partision magic
some anti virus program cant remember name

anyway internet has stopped working this is what I am getting (see attachment)

in network connections it shows connected but its not recieving any bytes! best I can tell my router isn't sending the IP settings and i dont know why.


I have tried:

resetting router
updating gateway
creating a new connection
taking off the firewall on other PC

dont know what else to do, anyone help?

Just give the computer a static IP address... you can safely say that DHCP is not working if the machine has not managed to acquire an address after 12 mins!

make sure its turned on in the gateway if you want to use it, also, make sure that the LED for the socket you have your computer plugged into the router/switch.
