My laptop has wifi and ethernet. The laptop is connection to a wireless router (using the wifi connection). That connection is configured on this way: IP address: 192.168.1.10 subnet mask: 255.255.255.0 default gateway: 192.168.1.1 I want to connect my pc with my laptop using the ethernet port of the laptop. What network settings to I need to use on the ethernet port on the laptop and the ethernet port on the PC to let my PC use the internet connection of the laptop(ip addresses, default gateway etc.)?
[ot]i'm not sure about this[/ot]basically you are setting up 2 separate networks Wireless Wired just pretend the wireless network doesn't exist, you are just connecting 1 laptop to 1 desktop, if you want to disable net access from the laptop through the PC remove TCP/IP from the laptop, so, there will be 2 NIC's in your PC, just connect an ethernet cable between the 2 systems (with or without a hub / switch between then)[ot]a hub / switch acts similar to a double adaptor or 4 way power socket block, it just makes more ethernet connections available[/ot]
But do I need to specify an IP address somewhere? or should I set it to Automatically assign an IP address?
