Should I take the risk and buy a motherboard for this laptop?

Hi guys, I have a client whose Compaq Presario M2000 doesn't work at all. That is, when you plug it (with or without battery) to the power source, not even a sound or led gives any signal at all. I opened the laptop and looked for an obvious reason but there is nothing visually detectable. There is a little ribbon cable that joins the power switch with the motherboard but it doesn't look bad (I don't have anything to test it anyways, I'm a noob with laptops) Finally I guess that should be the motherboard itself the problem. It is very likely but I'm not sure what to do cause in ebay I can get it for around 100 bucks, then charge him around...200 what you think? I don't know ... what should I do?

I think you should not do it, because motherboard maybe not an issue. Ideally you should replace part by part with working details to identify what is exactly wrong with computer. You say you don't have much experience with laptops, why don't you bring it to the computer service?
