Looking for a really really simple website blocker.

My mother decided to find something to limit what my younger brother looks at and decides to download, and as his self control is fairly bad, we decided to get some software.

I don't need a program that offers logging, traffic, monitoring etc, all that is needed is a place to enter a website address and get denied access.

    Help appreciated!

You might have just what you need in Internet Explorer. Go to Tools-> Internet Options. Go to the Content tab and hit 'Enable'. Now go to the second tab, Approved Sites. You can now filter out websites that you don't want. Make sure to set a password, however.

is that the free or PRO version? I can't find anything in the regular, although what B said is just what is needed.

The best bet is as BigB said editing the hosts file. You can either do it through IE as explained above or create a text file with the sites you want blocked.

For more info on the hosts file I'd check out this site.

You can find lists on the internet that list thousands of websites that are blocked for porn / swearing / death e.t.c

So just download one of these lists, and copy / paste into the appropriate box, or hosts file.

    :good:

I agree I'm using zonealarm and it blocks things very effectively. You can also set a password. Just use it to say to my mum and dad its filtered. But i can disable it in 4 clicks.
