    I wonder, if motherboards on Intel chipsets can support SLI technology, or only motherboards on NVIDIA chipsets are able to do this.

    They can, but basically, nVidia has not licensed Intel to officially run SLI, nor will nVidia authorize their drivers to allow SLI on any non-nForce chipset. There's nothing technical about it preventing things from working...just nVidia wanting you to buy as much of their products as possible.
