slow computer

    windows xp home ed
    using avg anti virus. and reg mechanic.with ad-ware and spyware remover.
    Computer very slow,I also defrag .

    Any idea,s

    What are you complete PC Specs?
    Some things that would help us help you are RAM (Memory) and CPU (Processor).

    AVG can be a bit of a hog...Antivir personal edition has a nice, small footprint and works well for me.

    Also, try the usual places - run -> services.msc and stop and disable any unneeded services. A quick boost can be gotten by going to the system properties screen -> advanced ->performance settings and choosing "adjust for best performance." That'll turn off themes and visual effects and is pretty much a necessity on machines with less than 256MB.

    Also check task manager and see what apps are eating up your CPU cycles and memory
