I have an idea I'd like to share with you all....

Sometimes it's not obvious when a thread has finished. ie. if the thread starter has found the information/solutions they were looking for. So how about adding a 'solved' button? Once the problems/information have been solved, the user can click 'solved', and a note could be added to the thread title.
For example, when I've finished with this thread, I could click 'solved', and the thread title would change from:

    To this:

    Any thoughts?

yes, thats possible! I have thought about this before but then thought about all the older threads, which might be solved but won't be marked.

Anyway, I will implement this feature asap.

Who would decide if its solved though? Would the original thread creator determine this? or a mod/admin?

Well yea, if the mod/admin can edit and delete your post they should be able to decide if it has run its course.

ok, I just spent some time today programming it and have got it working, so go through your old threads and test it out.

    report back with bugs etc

edit: should I used "resolved" or "solved"?

I think solved will do because if you use resolved as well then it will create some confusions. There are some threads which has simillar answer but diff. questions or different answers but same questions or just a little bit change on in the question or answer. Main thing is that, one moderator or admin has to check and remember all ther solved threads to use the resolved button.

I hope I'm going right. as I am pretty old to understand all the things.

    Cool Sniper, it works well.
The other good thing is, the option to unresolve the thread :good:

    I like it! :)

    Just one little thing though.....

When 'resolved' is clicked, the web page gets redirected from the message, to the forum root directory. Can you change it so that when resolved is clicked, the web page goes back to the original message?

Strange, it goes back to the same page for me? I'll make a few changes and get back to you.

    It's working now :good:

What are your thoughts about putting the resolved button next to the reply button? At the top of the page and also at the bottom of the page. It is quite easy to miss it where it is now

Can do, will also add a tick box for the thread starter in the quick reply area, so they can tick it if required.

Perhaps the solved button should lock the thread as well? There's no need for more posts if the original question has been answered. The thread creator would have the power to unlock his thread with 'Unsolved' should he feel his question has not been answered.

    Thoughts? :)

I am planning to add a little tick box in the quick reply section, saying "Tick this box if the problem has been solved" so users are more aware of this option,

I think closing the thread is a good idea, would think about it :)
