So I've been planning to build my own computer for gaming, and I've been looking through parts all day and this is what I came up with and I was wondering what Power Supply/Sound Card to get as well as some pros at this look and make sure everything looks like it will work lol.

    Motherboard: Amazon.com: Asus P5K Premium WIFI AP C2D LGA775 IntelP35 ICH9R DDR2 1066 PCI-E x16 5 Motherboard: Electronics

    Processor: Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Cooler: Scythe "INFINITY" 5HeatPipes CPU Cooler

    Hard Drive: Newegg.com - SAMSUNG Spinpoint F1 HD103UJ 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

    RAM: Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

Case: Amazon.com: Antec Nine Hundred Steel ATX Ultimate Gamer PC Case (Black): Electronics

    DVD Drive: nowdirect > Samsung WriteMaster SH-S203B - Optical drive - DVDRW (R DL) / DVD-RAM - 20x/20x/12x - Serial ATA - internal - 5.25" - black, Samsung, SH-S203B/BEBE

Video Card: XFX GeForce 8800 GT - 512MB GDDR3, PCI Express 2.0, SLI Ready, (Dual Link) Dual DVI, HDTV, Video Card, Recertified PVT88PYHF at TigerDirect.com

Like I said this computer will be used for gaming, mostly World of Warcraft. I don't know what power supply to get (if it matters) and sound card. I also want to make sure this will all work because I am new to this.

    Thanks in advance.

Hi Harding I would recommend a few changes.
nowdirect has the 1TB Samsung drive for $15 cheaper than newegg, here

I would also recommend changing the Samsung DVDRW, the SH-S203N is a similar SATA drive, but also has LightScribe and it is a little cheaper. here

Everything else looks decent. I wouldn't buy a refurbished video card, but that is my personal choice.

    good luck.

I think its a bit overkill to say a minumum PSU is a 750w. 550w would almost certainly do and even 650 would probably accomodate a few upgardes later on. Many prebuild design your own sites a similar spec to the one sugested which by the way for a lower price rig looks good and have 550w supplies.

You will need 64 bit OS to use all 4gb of your memory.

I agree with edgar but if the guy wants to buy a 750watt PSU then that would be a wiser choice as future upgrades will be easier.

i too agree with edgar & Pimp, no disrespect Net Jockey, PSUs are very important, but the PSU Net Jockey recommended is a monster, although personally, i'd say that dual, triple or quad rail PSU are preferred to single rail PSUs, a crappy generic 500W PSU has being known to power less stuff than a decent 350W PSU, personally i only buy Antec PSUs, be carful buying a PSU

Edit: also i'd think about considering a modular PSU

Well I have that monster in my new machine (that I just built) And I do not plan on gaming. I Know it is an overkill. But I don't regret it...I like the quality. And an overkill will not do damage to my rig where as an under kill has been known to do that.:(

If I am going to err...I prefer to do that on the side of caution.

I also went with a larger processor than I needed...but that will only benefit me should I choose to upgrade or sell my rig at a future point.

Edit: I just realized that as important as power supply is....This forum does not ask you what kind of a PSU you have in "My Computer"

can't argue with that, well i could, but lets not go there
suggest it in "Suggestions and Feedback"

a decent PSU is i would say all important, but i would say a dual, triple or quad rail PSU is better simply because you can then do some load balancing between the different wires / connection (rails) coming from the PSU

BTW: i have an Antec TP Trio 550W

your video card choice is the weak point in the system depending on the resolutions u will be using. if u use a 17 or 19" monitor u r fine, but if u use a 24 i would get a better card gtx 260

First off, the card is just fine. It will run WoW (what u said you are building this rigg for) perfectly fine, even at 1650 x 1050 (a common 24'' resolution.) A 750 Watt PSU is a HUGE overkill, a good 500w would be more than enough.
