so since my brother doesn't OC I swapped RAM and Proc. my 2600+ barton for his 2500+ barton his pc3200 512mb, 3-3-3-8. for my pc-2700, 2.5-3-3-6 I went straight to 3200+. No voltage increase, just went to 200FSB and set timings and it's running better! Pretty good OC and I'd expect more if I had faster ram. http://img315.imageshack.us/img315/3416/jtled8cs.jpg
I never had a 3200+ I upped FSB of my brother's 2500+ to 200 from 166. This option of speed was from 2500+, 3200+ or Select speed in my BIOS. I just set 3200+, I think the 3200+'s were just 2500+'s with 200FSB.
the bartons were designed to run at 3200+ speeds and possibly beyond. I wouldn't be surprised to push this chip farther.
Load - 38 Idle - 32 Previously with my 2600+, Load - 46/47 Idle - 43/44 Case now, Idle - 22 Load - 24/5 with 2600+, Idle - 25 Load - 27 Temps have dropped, performance up
so you secretly ripped him off? haha, whatever, yeah, the 2500 is amazing at overclocking, you should unlock the multiplier too
gone are the good old days of te T-birds, where a graphite pencil and a steady hand could unlock the multiplier. No suprise at all, the 2500 Barton is famous for its ability to be overclocked to 3200 speeds. Thats what people bought them for, especially the mobile chips.
yes the Tbirds and their multipliers are so easy to unlock... my brother's 17. I kinda want to get a mobile, but I'm a little late. SocketA is dead. I'm gonna upgrade soon though
