I use 2 hard drives, one which has my OS installed on it and a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1000GB HD103SJ which I use for storage. Everything was fine until recently I upgraded from XP to W7,and now my PC doesnt detect the HD. I google'd it and it seems Im not the only one with this problem, but i haven't found a solution. HELP?
just did a quick google.. try this Go: control panel -> administrative tools -> computer management -> disk management Scroll down the list of drives and your drive should be there. Then the last step is if you see the drive at the bottom and not in the top half of the screen right click on the drive that it is not recognizing and change that drive letter to say E or something like that. I have more than one external drive so I had to do that with each drive. Worked like a charm after that. Using Windows 7 64 bit in case you were wondering. and or Does this first left click on START Right click my COMPUTER Left Click MANAGE Left click DISK MANAGEMENT Your disk should appear there but not have a letter Right click in the space on the right where the disk details are Then click on CHANGE DRIVE LETTER AND PATHS Then click ADD and assign it a letter available say M Presto you should be able to see the drive and access it with all programs however next time you use it or another peripheral you may have to do it again. I use a lot of external drives and have to do it most times. So get some practice!
